Art at St John's is offered to all pupils in Grade 8 and 9. At the end of their Grade 9 year pupils may elect to do art as a Matric subject. The two main disciplines taught are drawing and painting. The art course for the Grade 8s and 9s, provides them with a foundation with which to understand and appreciate art. This is added to over the next three years, allowing pupils to fulfil their potential by exploring different materials and methods of work. The process culminates with the Grade 12 pupils holding an exhibition of their work. This should bear testimony to their development, progress and potential.
