Scholarships
The following Scholarships may be awarded at Grade 8 level. The percentage varies for each Scholarship. The Headmistress is entitled to award these at her discretion and may choose not to award certain Scholarships.
1. Academic- Major Day Scholar
- Minor Day Scholar
- Major Boarder (*tuition fees only)
- Minor Boarder (* tuition fees only)
2. Sports Scholarship
Applicants will be required to submit a C.V. of recent Sporting achievements, accompanied by certificates of achievement.
3. Music Scholarship
Applicants will be required to submit a C.V. of recent examination results, accompanied by the relevant certificates/results. The applicant would be required to prepare two pieces for an audition.
4. All-Rounder Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a pupil who is an “all-round” achiever in the classroom, culturally and/or on the sports field
5. Sisters of St John the Divine Scholarship
This Scholarship is awarded to a deserving pupil whose achievement in the entrance examination is commendable.
6. Clifton Closed
This Scholarship is awarded to a pupil who attends Clifton School, Nottingham Road, and who achieves above 75% in the entrance examinations.
All the above scholarships (including the Academic Boarder Scholarships) are based on tuition fees only.
Each of these scholarships is awarded for a 5-year period, provided the pupil abides by the following criteria:
- she makes every effort to maintain the high standard of work (and/or sport, or music – if applicable) of which we believe she is capable
- she acts at all times in such a manner as to bring credit to herself, her family and her school
- she upholds the School’s Code of Conduct
- the parents’ portion of the school fees is paid timeously
Please note that the value of any scholarship should not be disclosed to any outside parties. Failure to abide by this condition may result in the school’s withdrawing the scholarship.
BURSARY APPLICATIONS
Limited funds are available for bursaries and are only considered in exceptional circumstances. Forms are obtainable from the Mrs Kim Haigh.
The St John’s Old Girls’ Association offer two bursaries. These run for a two year period between Grade 10 and 12, to daughters of Old Girls. They are each in the amount of R10 000 per year. Application forms are available from the Old Girls’ Association.
